After his mother’s death, philosopher Georg Hermes plans to withdraw, study Heraclitus. Getting a suit for a talk, he meets sisters Franziska, Breate and Marthe. They invite him to dinner; Franziska dates him, and after he falls from a boat and ends up naked with her, they become lovers. The sisters persuade him to live with them, suggest polygamy.
