In 2005, Italian journalist Giuliana Sgrena was abducted in Iraq by a terrorist group. Nicola Calipari, an agent of the Italian intelligence agency SISMI, was assigned to negotiate her release. The rescue mission faced complications due to the involvement of US forces in Iraq. Despite the challenges and after protracted negotiations, Calipari successfully secured the journalist's freedom, tragically losing his own life during the operation.
