Candid interviews with Dutch, Australian, British and American POWs expose the terror of the Thailand‑Burma Railway during WWII. Forced by the Japanese Imperial Army, more than 16,000 Allied prisoners and 100,000 local laborers built a 250‑mile track through jungle, ending with the infamous Bridge on the River Kwai. The documentary counters the romanticized 1957 Hollywood film, revealing desperation, death and lasting bonds forged during three‑and‑a‑half years of brutal captivity.
