The Three Musketeers

D'Artagnan departs his Gascon homeland with high hopes of joining the King's Musketeers. He carries a letter of introduction from his father and dreams of proving himself among legends. His journey marks the first step toward a fate that will test his courage and loyalty.

At a roadside inn, a mysterious lady's escort provokes D'Artagnan to a confrontation, and he is knocked unconscious. The ensuing chaos results in his father's letter being burned, depriving him of a direct path to de Treville. He resumes his journey with new resolve.

D'Artagnan reaches Paris and presents himself to de Treville, who recognizes his potential and makes him a cadet. He immediately crosses paths with Athos, Porthos, and Aramis, infuriating all three as he pursues the same target they are after. The accidental clash foreshadows a lasting bond.

The four men are drawn into a series of duels with the man they seek, but Richelieu's guards interrupt before the blades draw blood. Working together for the first time, D'Artagnan and the three musketeers fend off the guards and are welcomed into the Musketeers.

D'Artagnan comes to the aid of Constance Bonacieux, a confidante of Queen Anne, and rescues her from danger. The rescue deepens his attachment to Constance and elevates him within the Queen's circle. The episode also foreshadows a growing romance.

Richelieu engineers a political scheme by exploiting the Queen's indiscretion with the diamonds, hoping to drive a wedge between the King and Queen and incite war with Britain. The Musketeers volunteer to travel to Britain to retrieve the jewels and avert a royal scandal. Their mission ties personal loyalties to national politics.

On the way to Britain, Richelieu's men pick off the Musketeers one by one, forcing the surviving pair to push on alone. The Countess de Winter, Milady, steals two of the diamond studs to undermine the Queen. The jeweler improvises replacements, and D'Artagnan races back to France.

Returning to France in time, D'Artagnan helps restore the diamonds' legitimacy, saving the Queen from public disgrace. His resourcefulness earns him gratitude and cements his bond with Constance and the Musketeers. The episode also exposes Richelieu's manipulative schemes.

Richelieu abducts Constance to draw D'Artagnan into his orbit, while Milady—Countess de Winter—tries to bend the young man to her will. Athos warns D'Artagnan about Milady, and D'Artagnan begins to suspect her true identity after a distinctive mark appears on her shoulder.

Britain and France go to war as Milady is dispatched to Britain with carte blanche to eliminate a rival. Constance is freed by the Queen and sent to Buckingham for safety as Planchet races to warn the Duke. Athos confronts Milady, obtaining the carte blanche as proof of Richelieu's treachery.

The truth about Milady is exposed when Athos confronts her and recovers the carte blanche. Milady is captured near Athos's ancestral home and brought to justice, meeting her fate at the estate as the conspiracies unravel. Her downfall vindicates the Musketeers and their allies.

With the carte blanche secured, the King is compelled to grant the Musketeers' requests: Aramis to a monastery, Porthos to a rich widow, Athos to restore his title and lands, and D'Artagnan to be a Musketeer with a mission to England. The four depart triumphantly, ready for new adventures and dangers beyond France.
