In this high-octane martial arts tale, Takuma Tsurugi—a legendary fighter who travels the world under the guise of a Buddhist monk—crosses paths with the condemned killer Tateki Shikenbaru. Tsurugi employs his infamous oxygen coma punch, knocking Shikenbaru out just as the noose tightens, and the moment ripples through the underworld as the killer is rushed toward a hospital. But the drama intensifies when Tsurugi and his loyal companion, Rakuda, ambush the ambulance and stage a dramatic rescue, setting off a chain of events that will pull everyone deeper into a web of loyalty, betrayal, and vengeance.

Watching the escape on the news are Shikenbaru’s kin—Gijun Shikenbaru and Nachi Shikenbaru—who arrive seeking mercy and more time to settle debts. Their pleas collide with Tsurugi’s fierce sense of justice, and a confrontation erupts. In the ensuing chaos, Gijun’s bravado backfires in a fatal misstep, while Nachi’s fate takes a dark turn as she is sold into sexual slavery through Renzo Mutaguchi, the man who becomes the engine of the gang’s brutal plan.

Mutaguchi and his syndicate then pivot toward Sarai, the daughter of a recently deceased oil magnate, hoping to hire Tsurugi to stage a kidnapping. Tsurugi refuses once he discovers the yakuza and Hong Kong mafia are backing the scheme, but the criminals persist. Sarai is under the protection of her uncle Kendō Masaoka, a revered karate master living at a Seibukan dojo. Kendō Masaoka becomes the pivotal figure in a tense showdown as Tsurugi forcibly retrieves Sarai and challenges Masaoka’s students to prove a point, a brutal test of technique and will.

Masaoka, moved by a past connection—the half-Chinese son of a martial artist he once knew is revealed to be Tsurugi—stops the confrontation from turning deadly and agrees, reluctantly, to protect Sarai. Yet the threat from the Hong Kong faction remains real and relentless. The yakuza’s alliance, led by the Kowloon Triad boss known as Dinsau, dispatches Shikenbaru to avenge his siblings by eliminating Tsurugi, intensifying the pressure on our champion.

Across a succession of perilous confrontations, the gang makes several daring attempts to seize Sarai, and Tsurugi’s resourcefulness is tested at every turn. He manages a harrowing rescue, only to be captured himself in a brutal tug-of-war. Rakuda—seeking redemption—betrays Sarai’s location to save his friend, an act that forces Tsurugi to reassess loyalties and choices. This betrayal fractures the trusted bond between the two fighters, setting the stage for an even more brutal reckoning.

The pursuit leads to a merciless clash with a blind, skilled swordsman tied to the Hong Kong faction—the legendary Môrôkô, the Blind Wolf, a fearsome warrior who fights with precision and fearsome resolve. In the heat of the truce-breaking encounter, Rakuda falls by the enemy’s sword in a reckless bid to redeem himself, while Tsurugi endures a grueling test of endurance and will in a shipyard siege, pushing through waves of guards to reach his adversaries.

The climax culminates in a dramatic duel between Tateki Shikenbaru and Tsurugi, sanctioned by Dinsau, who grants the challenger permission to fight. In a fraught moment of sacrifice, Nachi steps in to allow her brother a clear shot with a sai, a hope that the tide might turn. Tsurugi endures and finally rips out Shikenbaru’s vocal cords, leaving the rival unable to speak or utter defiance. Wounded and battered, Tsurugi is aided to his feet by Sarai and Dinsau in the film’s stark, unforgettable final shot, a testament to endurance, loyalty, and the hard-won victories won on the edge of survival.
