In a bleak provincial town, boys are drilled for combat while the elite meet in a pool hall to boast biographies. Youth gangs fight on derelict lots, and pigeons—bought, sold, or stolen—are a common post‑war pastime. When a beautiful white dove appears, Ivan risks his life to catch it and immediately becomes the target of the town’s “pigeon” mafia.
