Wu Viet, a Vietnamese refugee seeking a new life in the United States, first journeys toward Hong Kong. En route through Thailand he meets a striking woman who joins his trek. Together they settle in a Thai refugee camp, where fellow countrymen begin vanishing mysteriously. As Wu investigates, his own safety is threatened, forcing him to flee to the Philippines.
