The Steam Engines of Oz

A hundred years after the original events in Oz, the modernized Emerald City is ruled by the Tin Man. The city is expanding its territory, threatening the magic of Oz itself. This setting establishes a world that has evolved from traditional fairy tale elements into a more modernized version.

Locasta, the Good Witch of the North, visits Victoria Wright with her winged monkeys to warn her of the danger posed by the city's expansion. She warns that continued growth could lead to the loss of Oz's magic, setting Victoria on a path of concern and action.

Victoria, a young mechanic, chooses to flee Emerald City along with Gromit and Phadrig Diggs after the warning. Her decision marks the beginning of her quest to protect Oz from losing its magic due to unchecked expansion.

Victoria is ambushed and kidnapped by the lions Otho, Lucilia, and Magnus, but Gromit and Phadrig arrive just in time to rescue her. This event heightens the tension and introduces the conflict between Victoria's group and the Lions alliance.

Victoria, Gromit, and Phadrig head toward a Munchkin village but encounter Heflin and his rebellious gang. Their attempt to rally the Munchkins fails, prompting Victoria to decide to confront the Tin Man directly in Emerald City.

Victoria and her friends face off against Sir Blackburn's soldiers sent by Tin Man. The resistance results in Gromit being wounded, and the Munchkin Lions ambush the soldiers, escalating the conflict within Oz.

Oscar Diggs recounts the Tin Man's backstory: once a human woodsman named Nick Chopper, he lost his limbs and heart due to a wicked enchantment, later becoming the ruler of the Winkies. His obsession with rebuilding Nimmie Amee leads him to suppress magic and Munchkins to focus on his mechanical creations.

Victoria and her allies head to the secret chamber beneath the palace to activate the Great Steam Engines of Oz, which reveals Nimmie Amee, Tin Man's heart, and a disassembled Scarecrow. They aim to reunite and restore these characters to fight against Tin Man's tyranny.

After their victory, Victoria returns Tin Man's heart and encourages him to accept responsibility for his actions. Tin Man acknowledges his mistakes, ends the war, and the city begins to celebrate peace and reconciliation among Oz's inhabitants.

With Tin Man stepping down, Victoria promises to help find his sons and restore Emerald City to its former glory. This signifies a hopeful new chapter for Oz, emphasizing unity and healing.

In a post-credits scene, the Tin Man visits Nimmie Amee in the secret chamber and allows her to pass into the afterlife. This closing moment reflects his acceptance and the end of his long quest for love and redemption.
