Count de Faber is developing a revolutionary explosive when he discovers that Professor Plussman has already perfected the formula. After a failed attempt to obtain it through negotiation, de Faber breaks into the professor’s home, confiscates the secret and abducts Plussman’s daughter, Mary, whisking her away to the remote Carlsten Fortress to use her as leverage.
