In 1926 New Orleans, Tiana dreams of opening her own restaurant. She works two waitress jobs to save money, leaving little time for a social life. Her relentless pursuit sets the foundation for everything that follows.

Dr. Facilier uses a voodoo talisman to transform Naveen into a frog and Lawrence into a doppelgänger of Naveen, foreshadowing a plan to seize the La Bouff fortune. This magical turn leaves Naveen vulnerable and stranded in the city. The spells escalate the stakes for Tiana’s goals.

At the Big Daddy Mardi Gras masquerade, Naveen, still in disguise, asks Tiana to kiss him to break the curse and promises money in return. Misled by the ruse of a real prince, Tiana agrees, hoping to save her dream. The kiss backfires, and both are transformed into frogs.

Escaping the ball, Tiana and Naveen race into the bayou with the help of a jazz-loving alligator named Louis. They struggle to adapt to life as amphibians while staying focused on their unlikely mission. The bayou becomes their temporary sanctuary and plan hub.

A friendly firefly named Ray lights the way and joins the pair on their journey toward Mama Odie. He provides humor and crucial guidance about how to break the spell. The trio's dynamic begins to form as trust grows between them.

Mama Odie, a voodoo priestess, confirms that Naveen must kiss a real princess to restore the spell. She adds that time is limited by Charlotte’s status as Mardi Gras princess. Her revelation sets a clear, urgent objective for the group.

The group returns toward the city on a steamboat, hoping to leverage Charlotte's status and lead to a kiss that saves them. Onboard, Naveen reveals he has fallen for Tiana and contemplates what love could mean for his future. He postpones his royal plans to help Tiana reach her dream.

Facilier summons an army of shadow demons by promising souls to the other side, aiming to take control of New Orleans and force Naveen's blood-tied talisman back into use. The threat grows as his power tightens its grip on the city. The protagonists sense the danger closing in.

Naveen is captured by Facilier's minions and brought to the witch doctor for their plan. Ray fights to protect his friends and manages to steal the talisman, but is mortally wounded in the confrontation. The death of the brave firefly marks a turning point in the battle against Facilier.

News reaches Tiana that Naveen’s fate depends on a kiss from a princess, and she journeys to the Mardi Gras parade to find him. Charlotte’s impending wedding complicates matters, as time runs out before midnight. Ray's sacrifice and Naveen’s hope hinge on a successful rescue.

Ray's warning and Tiana's resolve push her to destroy the talisman, breaking Facilier’s source of power. Voodoo spirits drag Facilier into their world for failing to repay his debt. The immediate threat to the lovers is finally removed.

With the villain's grip fading, Lawrence is arrested, removing the immediate obstacle to the couple's happiness. Tiana and Naveen reaffirm their bond and begin to trust their own decisions over magical shortcuts. The community moves toward a hopeful ending.

The clock strikes midnight before Charlotte can kiss Naveen, and the plan to crown him backfires. Ray dies and is reincarnated as a star, performing a final tribute to the couple's struggle. The moment marks a bittersweet turn before the ending.

Tiana and Naveen are wed by Mama Odie, and they are briefly transformed back to humans when they kiss since Tiana is now a princess. They return to New Orleans and open a restaurant named Tiana's Palace, realizing her dream at last. The city celebrates the couple's triumph over adversity.
