In New York City, Kit's ex-girlfriend, Diana Palmer, is sent to Bengalla to investigate Xander Drax's connection to piracy. Her findings could expose Drax's ruthless ambition for supernatural power.

On her journey, Diana is captured by air-pirates under Drax's command, led by the formidable Sala. Her abduction forces the Phantom to spring into action to rescue her.

Informed about Diana's kidnapping, the Phantom bravely rescues her and takes her to his lair, the Skull Cave. Here, he reveals the truth about the Sengh brotherhood's symbol that Drax seeks.

In a surprising twist, Drax and his men capture Kit and Diana, stealing the second Skull. This act leads them on a treacherous path to uncover the location of the third Skull on a remote island.

Diana is taken to the Devil's Vortex, a dangerous island, where Drax forges an alliance with Kabai Sengh, a descendant of the Sengh brotherhood. They aim to harness the power of the three Skulls.

The Phantom attacks the meeting between Drax and Kabai Sengh. In a fierce battle, he defeats Quill and Kabai Sengh, freeing Diana and recovering the stolen Skulls.

Sala, originally a foe, has a change of heart and chooses to aid the Phantom and Diana in their fight. Their combined efforts lead to the defeat of the antagonists.

Drax manages to unite the three Skulls, but his plan backfires when the Phantom uses the special Skull from his ring to thwart him. The resulting energy triggers a catastrophic volcanic eruption.

In a poignant parting, the Phantom unveils his true identity to Diana, hinting at their future together. However, as she is whisked away to New York, the implications of his revelation remain in the air.
