The Parent Trap

Twenty-five years after the original film, Sharon Ferris, now a single mother, prepares for a move to New York City. Her daughter, Nikki, is unhappy with the decision and the prospect of attending an all-girls school in the fall.

While attending summer school, Nikki encounters Jessica Dintruff, resulting in immediate animosity. However, she also forms a friendship with Mary Grand, who is dealing with her own family issues.

Seeing their parents single, Nikki and Mary devise a plan to bring their families together. They believe that if they can set Sharon and Bill Grand up on dates, their parents might fall in love and prevent Nikki's move.

Nikki and Mary send flowers to Sharon, falsely attributed to Bill Grand, hoping this will encourage a meeting. While the girls expect instant chemistry, their plan doesn't unfold as anticipated.

Frustrated by the lack of success, the girls enlist their other parent for help. They convince Sharon's twin sister, Susan Carey, to pose as Sharon to facilitate dates with Bill Grand.

Susan, disguised as Sharon, meets Bill at a bar called the Press Box. They watch a baseball game together, which puzzles the real Sharon, who detests the sport.

As Susan and Bill continue their meet-ups, the real Sharon becomes increasingly confused and suspicious. Florence, Bill's maid, starts to suspect that something unusual is happening.

On discovering the girls' plan, Sharon decides to turn the tables. She contacts her brother-in-law Brian, a pilot, to join her in a counter-scheme against Susan and Bill.

As Susan and Bill are on their date, Sharon and Brian stage their own, which inadvertently distracts Susan. This leads to comic moments as the plans collide, revealing the complexity of their schemes.

Susan, frustrated, approaches Bill and reveals her husband’s presence at their table. The comedic confusion culminates when she realizes it’s Sharon under the disguise, leading to laughter and clarity.

After the revelation, Susan and Sharon set the record straight with Bill. Sharon makes it clear that she does not have romantic feelings for him and suggests they remain friends.

As Sharon and Nikki prepare to leave, a going away party is held on a boat owned by Mr. Elias. Unbeknownst to the adults, Nikki and Mary decide to push the boat out into the water, leading to unexpected circumstances.

Sharon and Bill enjoy their time together on the boat, oblivious to the fact that they are drifting further from the shore. Their moment grows romantic as Bill kisses Sharon amidst the chaos of the moving boat.

The story culminates with a joyful wedding, symbolizing the unification of Sharon and Bill. Mary and Nikki celebrate as they finally become step-sisters, resolving the tension created by the move to New York City.
