In Atlanta, we meet Dave Lockwood, a devoted husband and father of three, who leads a life that seems perfect on the surface. His best friend, Mitch Planko, on the other hand, is a carefree bachelor living life to the fullest. One fateful night, after a few too many drinks, both men engage in a hilarious escapade, urinating in a fountain and wishing they could swap lives.

The next day, a shocking twist awaits as they find themselves having mysteriously “switched bodies.” Determined to reverse their predicament, they rush back to the park only to discover that the fountain has been taken away for renovations. As they navigate their new realities, they are compelled to impersonate each other in their personal lives.

At Dave’s law office, Mitch struggles when he tries to portray his friend, forming an unexpected connection with Sabrina, Dave’s assistant. Mitch’s lack of legal acumen and professionalism jeopardizes a crucial merger with a Japanese company, leading to tension and chaos. On the other hand, Dave stumbles upon Mitch’s life as an adult film star and is nothing short of appalled.

In an effort to mend their lives, Dave seeks to reveal the truth to his wife, Jamie, but she dismisses his claims. With Mitch striving to fit into Dave’s shoes, he ends up giving valuable advice to Dave’s daughter, Cara, at her ballet recital, where she stands up to a bully, leading to a heartwarming bond between them.

Mitch embraces his role, learning from Dave how to successfully date Sabrina. They share moments that make Dave reconsider staying in Mitch’s body longer. However, their friendship starts to strain when Dave miscommunicates with Jamie, leading to an emotional fallout and a missed anniversary celebration.

As both friends handle their intertwined lives, Mitch surprises everyone during a tense merger meeting by taking charge and demanding a substantially better deal, ultimately leading to a successful negotiation. In a climactic moment that is both comedic and poignant, the boys face hilarity and embarrassment as they attempt their final wish. They rush to the fountain, navigate through onlookers, and face the security just as they get another opportunity to reclaim their lives.
