The Nut Job

In Oakton City during the autumn of 1959, Surly and his loyal mute companion Buddy navigate their lives as outcasts in Liberty Park. Their reputation for thievery isolates them from the community of urban animals that rally around Raccoon and Cardinal.

As winter approaches, the local animals face a dire food shortage threatening their survival. Raccoon and Cardinal lead their community in a struggle to secure food, increasing tensions amongst the park's residents as they prepare for the harsh season ahead.

Andie, a kind-hearted squirrel, and the ambitious Grayson compete fiercely over the valuable nuts in Lucky and Fingers' cart. Unbeknownst to them, the cart is actually a cover for the criminal exploits of Percy 'King' Dimpleweed, a notorious figure in the city.

In a turn of events, Surly's mischief leads to a catastrophic propane tank explosion in Liberty Park. Triggered by Fingers' pet pug Precious, this incident disrupts the entire nut supply and results in Surly's alienation from the park community.

Banished from Liberty Park, Surly and Buddy stumble upon Maury's Nut Shop, a den of criminal activities run by King and his henchmen. Here, they uncover a larger plot that involves stealing from the bank, camouflaged under a facade of nut selling.

Meanwhile, Andie and Grayson are sent by Raccoon to forage for food. Their mission leads them on a detour, where they discover Fingers' abandoned dog whistle, seeding the groundwork for future confrontation with Surly.

A plan to use the dog whistle against Surly emerges within the community. Andie, driven by her conflicted feelings, works alongside Mole and the Bruisers to track down Surly, who is unaware of the brewing tension around him.

After a series of unfortunate events, Surly is arrested by King, who is plotting his nefarious heist. In a twist of fate, Lana, King's girlfriend, realizes he has not changed and intervenes just in time to help Surly escape.

In a thrilling chase, Surly and Grayson take on King's gang to thwart their escape. A pivotal moment unfolds as Mole chooses to defy Raccoon and reveals the truth about the corrupt leadership that has held sway over the park.

As King and Knuckles attempt to use dynamite to escape police pursuit, their plans backfire spectacularly. This results in a massive explosion that sends animals and criminals alike spiraling into the river chaos.

In a moment of bravery, Surly allows himself to be taken over a waterfall with Raccoon, demonstrating a profound change of heart. This selfless act redefines his legacy among the park inhabitants as they rally to rescue him.

Against all odds, the community arrives to save Surly from drowning. This event catalyzes a transformation within Surly, who is no longer the outcast but a hero embraced by those he once shunned.

After the chaos, King and his gang face legal repercussions for their crimes. In the aftermath, Lana decisively cuts ties with King, indicating the end of his misrule over the community.

Andie and Buddy mourn Surly, but the surprise of his survival reignites their spirits. Surly chooses humility, opting to collaborate with the community rather than rest on his newfound fame as a hero.

In a humorous twist, the post-credits scene features the enigmatic PSY unexpectedly performing 'Gangnam Style.' Meanwhile, Raccoon and Cardinal begin their plotting from a precarious position, hinting at future adventures and mischief.
