After recovering from tuberculosis, Sister Luke is sent back to Belgium to care for a mentally unstable VIP. This transition forces her to reflect on her journey and the brewing turmoil of war in Europe.

In Belgium, Gaby grapples deeply with her commitment to obedience, contrasting it with the brutal realities of Nazi occupation. The loss of her father at the hands of the oppressors weighs heavily on her conscience, testing her faith.
