When Ruslan D enters, he sets up a meeting space and gradually steers the group’s anti‑Putin sentiment toward activism. He records the meetings, hands the footage to prosecutors, prompting police raids and arrests on charges of plotting a coup and terrorism. Over three years the legal battle transforms Anya’s mother from a Putin loyalist into a hunger‑striking activist. Director Anna Shishova follows their lives and later reveals Ruslan D’s true identity.
