In August 2015, a courtroom in Rostov-on-Don becomes the stage for a pivotal moment. Film director Oleg Sentsov, a Maidan activist born in Simferopol, Ukraine, faces sentencing after being accused of leading an anti-Russian terrorist movement. He is charged with plotting attacks on infrastructure and a Lenin monument, and is ultimately handed a 20-year prison sentence in Siberia. The film documents Sentsov’s defiant defense and his powerful denial of the charges, turning his accusations onto those prosecuting him.
