The Mummy’s Ghost

In the Temple of Arkam, Andoheb informs Yousef Bey that Kharis must be found and Ananka's body returned to Egypt. He explains that during each full moon Yousef must brew the fluid from nine tana leaves, which will guide Kharis to the leaves no matter where they are. Yousef pledges his devotion as the ritual is set in motion.

After the ceremony, Kharis heads toward the scent of the tana leaves. He moves through the area and passes the home of Amina Mansori, who falls into a trance as she senses Egypt’s legends. The signal from the leaves draws the mummy toward Mapleton and its mysterious history.

Kharis arrives at Professor Norman's home in Mapleton and strangles him, then drinks the tana-leaf fluid. The attack is witnessed only by Amina in a trance-like state, who follows the creature in stunned silence. The town’s legends begin to feel deadly real as the murder shakes Mapleton.

The Sheriff and the Coroner discover a strange mold around Norman's throat, signaling that the mummy is again stalking Mapleton. The incident confirms the danger to the town and sets off a manhunt. Local authorities begin to suspect a supernatural force behind the killings.

Yousef Bey arrives in Mapleton and invokes Amon-Ra to aid his quest. He begins grinding and brewing the tana leaves to summon Kharis, intending to direct the creature toward Ananka's reincarnated soul. The ritual marks a new phase in the pursuit through Mapleton.

On his approach to the location sought by Yousef, Kharis kills a farmer on the countryside road. The Sheriff arrives with a mounted search party, tightening the noose around the mummy. The town braces for more violence as the creature closes in.

Kharis breaks into the Scripps Museum after hours and advances toward the mummified body of Ananka, which disintegrates. Yousef and the authorities realize that Ananka's soul has been reincarnated into another form. The confrontation reveals the ancient powers at work in Mapleton.

Police Inspector Walgreen and Dr. Ayad decide to use the tana leaves to attract Kharis and trap him in a pit. Their plan depends on timing and the ritual's pull over the mummy. The plan attempts to turn superstition into a strategic capture.

Tom Hervey disregards the Sheriff's warning and decides to elope with Amina to New York. Amina agrees, and the couple begins making arrangements to leave in the early morning. The impending departure adds a personal complication to the town's crisis.

Yousef calls upon Amon-Ra to locate the new home of Ananka's soul and sends Kharis in that direction. The murderous pursuit shifts toward the newly awakened carrier in Mapleton, intensifying the danger. The ritual alignment foreshadows a climactic confrontation.

Kharis heads toward the Norman home, where Amina wakes and realizes she is the carrier of Ananka's soul. The revelation deepens the mystery as the living girl becomes a conduit for the ancient spirit. The tension between duty and love rises as the mummy closes in.

At the mill, Bey recognizes the birthmark as the symbol of the priests of Arkam and vows to keep Amina as his bride using the tana leaves. Bey dies after falling from a window during the struggle, and Kharis escapes with Amina. A mob pursues them into a swamp, where both sink as the aging Amina slips away.
