In ancient China, a powerful warlord unites the fragmented kingdoms into a vast empire, gaining the title of the Dragon Emperor. His ambition drives him to wage a civil war, successfully establishing the Qin dynasty while brutally ordering the destruction of invaluable books and scrolls.

The Emperor, fearing the potential loss of his power with death, commands sorceress Zi Yuan and General Ming to seek the Oracle Bones. These mythical artifacts are believed to grant eternal life, fueling the Emperor's relentless quest for dominance.

During their journey, Zi Yuan and Ming develop a deep emotional connection, which is viewed unfavorably by the Emperor. His jealousy grows, creating a brewing conflict that threatens their lives as the Emperor desires Zi Yuan for himself.

A servant of the Emperor uncovers Ming and Zi Yuan's secret affair. As a result, the Emperor orders the execution of Ming, which prompts Zi Yuan to curse the Emperor and his army, transforming them into the legendary Terracotta Army instead of granting immortality.

In 1946, Alex O'Connell and his archaeology professor Roger Wilson inadvertently discover the Dragon Emperor's tomb during an excavation. Their discovery quickly escalates when a mysterious woman attacks them, leading them to transport the sarcophagus to Shanghai amidst growing danger.

The British government commissions the O'Connells to return the mystical gemstone known as the Eye of Shangri-La to its homeland. This gemstone is believed to contain mystical powers, adding urgency to their mission amidst post-war turbulence in China.

As the O'Connells celebrate the Chinese New Year in Shanghai, they uncover that Wilson is not who he claims to be. He is secretly allied with a rogue military faction led by General Yang and Colonel Choi, who have sinister plans to resurrect the Dragon Emperor.

The resurrection of the Dragon Emperor begins, demonstrating his ruthless determination. He swiftly eliminates Wilson, solidifying his hold on power, and sets his sights on using the Eye of Shangri-La to regain supremacy.

With the help of Lin, a woman with a mysterious past, the O'Connells embark on a perilous journey to find Shangri-La. They hope to discover a way to stop the Emperor, utilizing Lin's knowledge of a cursed dagger that could ultimately defeat him.

As the O'Connells navigate to Shangri-La, the Dragon Emperor grows aware of their mission. In a desperate attempt to slow him down, Alex triggers an avalanche, but the danger is still very much alive as they push forward.

Upon reaching Shangri-La, they meet Zi Yuan, who has shared her fate of immortality with Lin. Zi Yuan possesses the magical ability to heal Rick's grave injuries, offering a glimmer of hope for the group's future against the Emperor.

The Emperor arrives in Shangri-La and immediately bathes in the magical waters to regain his powers. Transformed into a three-headed dragon, he captures Lin and returns to his tomb, intent on awakening the Terracotta Army for his conquest.

In a fierce battle on the Great Wall, the O'Connells and Zi Yuan face off against the resurrected Emperor and his army. With the Oracle Bones as their guide, they summon an undead army led by General Ming to join the fight against their ancient foe.

In a battle of epic proportions, Alex rescues Lin while Yuan confronts the Emperor directly. Despite her bravery, she suffers a mortal wound while saving the world from the Emperor's tyranny, but not before aiding them in their climactic victory.

The O'Connells return to Shanghai victorious, with Alex and Lin beginning a budding romance amidst the chaos. Meanwhile, Jonathan heads to Peru with the Eye of Shangri-La, unknowingly stepping into another adventure involving ancient mysteries.
