The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor

Zi Yuan cursed the Emperor because he ordered the execution of General Ming, her lover. When a servant discovered their secret affair, the Emperor had Ming killed out of jealousy, as he desired Zi Yuan for himself. Instead of granting him the immortality he sought through the Oracle Bones, Zi Yuan transformed him and his entire army into the Terracotta Army as an act of revenge.

The Emperor's jealousy and desire for Zi Yuan are established early in the story, making his eventual punishment feel inevitable.

The Dragon Emperor was resurrected using the Eye of Shangri-La, a mystical gemstone containing the magical waters of Shangri-La. General Yang and Colonel Choi, who were allied with the traitor Roger Wilson, used this artifact to bring the Emperor back to life. The Dragon Emperor was defeated when Rick and Alex plunged the cursed dagger into him during their battle on the Great Wall. This dagger, which the Emperor had hijacked earlier, was the same weapon Zi Yuan had created to destroy him. The dagger's power, combined with the Emperor's exposure to it, caused a massive explosion that destroyed both him and the Terracotta Army forever.

Lin defeated General Yang and Colonel Choi by cleverly using the ancient machinery in the Great Wall's mechanisms. During the battle, she threw Yang into the rotating gears of the wall's device, which killed both Yang and Choi simultaneously. This act prevented the villains from interfering with the final confrontation between Rick and Alex and the Emperor.

At the end of the movie, Jonathan Carnahan moved to Peru with the Eye of Shangri-La, unaware that ancient mysteries awaited him there. This sets up a potential sequel featuring the character facing new adventures involving mummies, though the movie does not reveal what specific danger awaits him.
