The Marine 4: Moving Target

Jake Carter, Mike Mizanin, a former U.S. Marine, now works for Hawthorne Global Security, a private security agency led by Craig Veroni Daniels. He and a small team wait at the airport for Olivia “Liv” Tanis, Melissa Roxburgh, an IT engineer who once worked for Genesis Defense Corporation, one of the largest defense contractors in the United States. Liv carries critical intel about traitors inside Genesis, and the Department of Justice has tasked the Hawthorne crew with protecting her until custody can be arranged. The mood is tense but determined as they prepare for a fragile handoff, hoping to keep Liv safe long enough to expose the corruption inside Genesis.

Their convoy heads toward custody, but the mission immediately spirals into chaos when mercenaries hired by Genesis’ corrupt military forces ambush them. The attackers are led by South African mercenary Simon Vogel, Josh Blacker, a ruthless figure who knows how to erase witnesses. The onslaught proves deadly: Daniels is killed, and most of his team falls. Jake fights to keep Liv alive, stealing one of the mercenaries’ vehicles and steering them into a desperate escape toward a safer, more concealed location—the plan already unraveling around them as gunfire narrows the path to safety.

At a desolate safe house, Liv grabs Jake’s gun and insists on getting to a police station to safeguard their chances. She questions Jake’s trustworthiness, while he argues that moving together is the only way to survive the relentless pursuit. Soon, Nate Miller, Roark Critchlow, and Ethan Smith, Matthew MacCaull, two Department of Justice agents, arrive with their own agenda. Ethan shoots Nate in the head after Nate relays Vogel’s involvement and the scale of the betrayal. It becomes clear that Ethan is working with Vogel, and he presses the hunt for Liv, pushing Jake into a dangerous standoff. Liv manages to escape the house as alarms scream, and Jake and Ethan collide in a brutal fight. Just as the mercenaries close in, Liv and Jake slip away again, this time by commandeering a boat to put more distance between them and their pursuers.

The couple continues on foot after the boat ride, with Liv still wary of Jake’s loyalties, and Jake insisting that they won’t survive if she goes on alone. After a tense stretch through the countryside, Liv hits the highway and hitches a ride in a trailer truck, hoping to reach the nearest police station. Jake follows the trail they’ve left behind, eventually spotting a passing police car that leads him to the same destination Liv is aiming for.

Inside the police station, Det. Paul Redman, Paul McGillion, confronts the tense scene as he tries to verify Jake’s identity and coordinate Liv’s safety. The situation is complicated by Ethan’s proximity to the mercenaries, and soon the station is swept into chaos as the attackers strike. The surrounding officers, including Redman, are overwhelmed and killed in a violent assault. Jake and Liv seize the chance to break free, slipping into the night and losing the mercenaries in a wild chase that pushes them into the woods.

Night gives way to a tense dawn, and an extended shootout erupts when Vogel decides to close the net. Vogel’s forces are decimated, but not before Ethan captures Liv. She fights free, and Jake and Ethan collide in a brutal clash of wills. Liv then delivers a critical blow, shooting Ethan in the head, while Vogel shoots Jake in the shoulder, momentarily stunning him. Unknown to Vogel, Liv manages to coordinate a significant data dump—she uploads Genesis’ corrupt military operations to a dozen news sites, ensuring the truth sees the light.

The confrontation reaches a brutal, personal peak as Jake, recovered from the blow, overwhelms Vogel and snaps his neck. With the core threat neutralized, Liv’s information begins to ripple through the media, indicting six Genesis Defense Corporation members for treason and conspiracy. In the aftermath, Liv provides Jake with a fresh tuxedo to replace the one he lost during the chaos, and a quiet, grateful kiss seals their uneasy alliance. As Liv boards a nearby plane, Jake watches the aircraft lift off, carrying them both toward an uncertain but Ledgered future, hopeful that the exposure of Genesis’ secrets will bring some measure of justice—and perhaps a chance at a new life together.
