The Magic Portal

Pee spots El leaving Captain Paranoia's office in disappointment. He wonders what upset his crewmate and calls after him, trying to understand what happened. The moment hints at tension aboard the ship.

El spots a mysterious rectangular portal humming with unknown energy on the ship. He watches it warily as the rest of the crew carries on around him. The portal's presence promises an unseen path.

El steps through the portal and realizes the far side shows a dark tunnel behind him. The tunnel seems to pull at him, promising an unknown route. He decides to venture onward and enters the maze-like world.

Red brick-built creatures materialize in the maze and conjure a car out of thin air for El. The car is slick and tiny, perfectly suited for the maze's twists. El climbs in, ready for whatever the maze throws at him.

El drives through the maze at speed, pursued by a menacing two-headed beast with excavator claw mouths. A near miss from a passing train heightens the danger, and the car suddenly breaks down. He trips near the portal, the beast closes in, and the car is eaten as El faints.

The beast charges through the portal and enters the ship, which is momentarily used as an animation set. It seems to have followed El back into the main world.

El wakes up and re-enters the portal to report his experience to Captain Paranoia. Paranoia refuses to believe him and shoves him into live electrical wires.

Pee convinces El to show him the portal, but they find the portal has vanished. The ship's alarm blares, waking Paranoia who finds red creatures phasing through the walls.

Paranoia is pulled through the portal to a blank, surreal location where a Plasticine shark fin keeps pace with him. The Plasticine morphs into walls, a cannon, and a toilet tank to toy with him.

The Plasticine leads him back through the portal to board the ship, where he discovers the floor is actually a sheet of paper and the ship looks like an animation set. El and Pee are on board, seemingly part of the stage.

On the desktop, robots made of screws and bottles of correction fluid spy on them and ambush their group. Paranoia takes the lead, firing his blaster while El and Pee defend the Plasticine. The Plasticine rescues Paranoia from a lucky shot.

The crew finds an emergency exit to the bottom of the desk and uses a shoe as a car to escape. They drive into the Animator's space, and the two-headed beast tracks them by scent, entering the space and tearing down the animation set.

The Animator pulls El, Pee, Paranoia, and the Plasticine out of the shoe and returns them to their positions on the ship. A time-lapse shows the Animator fixing the ship as El continues his duties. The red creatures remain aboard as the portal darkens.
