In a distant future, a genius scientist sets out on a daunting mission to avert an imminent ecological catastrophe. To aid this cause, he sends a collection of advanced devices, cleverly disguised as regular children’s toys, back in time to contemporary Seattle. Two inquisitive siblings, Noah Wilder and his younger sister Emma, stumble upon these enigmatic artifacts, becoming the unsuspecting guardians of their hidden powers.

As they delve into the mysteries of these objects, they discover one of them takes the form of a seemingly ordinary stuffed rabbit, which Emma affectionately names Mimzy. With each interaction, Emma’s bond with Mimzy deepens, granting her extraordinary knowledge and abilities, making her the unparalleled controller of the “spinners” - ancient stones that can float and create a protective energy field. In a parallel development, Noah’s connection with another enigmatic device reveals a talentscape that allows him to teleport items using a small, card-sized rectangle adorned with green lines and command spiders by manipulating a conch shell. Nevertheless, it is Emma who is more in tune with Mimzy, as it bestows upon her its wisdom and potential.

As the duo continues their secret experiments, they inadvertently attract the attention of their parents and Larry White, Noah’s inquisitive science teacher. Soon, their remarkable abilities catch the gaze of law enforcement, leading to a visit from Special Agent Nathaniel Broadman and his team from the FBI. In a moment of impulsiveness, Noah sets off a statewide blackout, which raises further alarms among the authorities.

As the situation intensifies, Emma receives a chilling message through Mimzy: their device is not unique; others like it had previously been sent to the past, but due to the absence of a crucial “engineer” like Noah, they struggled to return home. With Mimzy’s lifeforce fading, Emma realizes it’s vital for the rabbit to obtain a sample of untainted human DNA to repair the genetic damage inflicted by environmental disasters. However, the FBI remains skeptical of their far-fetched assertions, prompting Noah and Emma to employ their powers for a daring escape.

As they make their bold exit, a single tear falls from Emma, containing her DNA, which Mimzy absorbs eagerly. Equipped with this crucial information, Mimzy successfully traverses the time portal fashioned by Noah utilizing the mysterious devices.
