A lavish musical follows a restless young emperor entranced by enchanting tales of a distant land called Kiang‑Nan, narrated by his royal tutor. Concerned, his mother, the empress, orders the tutor to travel to Kiang‑Nan and retrieve the ruler, setting off a quest that intertwines duty, curiosity and song.
