The Guns of Fort Petticoat

Set in 1864, toward the end of the American Civil War, Audie Murphy stars as Texan Lt. Frank Hewitt, a U.S. Cavalry officer serving under Col. Chivington Ainslie Pryor. While on patrol, Hewitt encounters a small group of unarmed Indians who are trying to return to the Sand Creek reservation. In the tense briefing that follows, Col. Chivington orders an attack that will go down in history as the Sand Creek Massacre.
