Club star Jeannie Laird throws a garden party after buying her first home, but smoke from the neighboring yard spoils it. She confronts the neighbor and meets widowed comic‑strip artist Bill Carter, who raises his ten‑year‑old son Joe. When Jeannie and Bill fall in love, Joe feels abandoned and writes to Bill’s syndicate, exposing the dishonest Canada storyline in his strip.
