In a televised interview, psychologist Dr. Abigail 'Abbey' Tyler discusses the mysterious occurrences that transpired in Nome, Alaska. She focuses on the harrowing alleged alien abduction that took place in October 2000, setting the stage for a chilling investigation into the supernatural.

Abbey's life is turned upside down in August 2000 when her husband Will is brutally murdered. Left to care for their two children, Ashley and Ronnie, Abbey struggles to cope with her husband's death and provide a stable environment for her family.

As part of her therapy practice, Abbey begins recording hypnotherapy sessions with her patients, who recount unsettling tales of being watched by a white owl. Their descriptions include encounters with otherworldly creatures, heightening Abbey's concerns about the nature of their experiences.

One night, Abbey receives a desperate call from a patient who has taken his family hostage, insisting he is being tormented by his memories. Despite her efforts to help, the situation escalates tragically when he kills his family and himself, sending Abbey into turmoil.

Driven to uncover the truth, Abbey suspects a link between her patients' experiences and potential alien abductions. Her assistant presents her with a tape recorder that captures haunting sounds, further deepening her bewilderment and fear regarding possible extraterrestrial involvement.

Abbey seeks the help of Dr. Awolowa Odusami, a linguist who knew her late husband, to analyze the strange voice recorded on her tape. After investigation, Odusami startlingly identifies the language as Sumerian, adding a layer of ancient mystery to the ongoing events.

Another patient named Scott shares his fragmented recollections, hinting at a more sinister truth behind the owl’s guise. During a hypnotherapy session, mystical phenomena occur as he levitates, insisting that Abbey should cease her investigation immediately.

After Scott's alarming episode, Sheriff August confronts Abbey, blaming her for Scott’s subsequent paralysis. Abbey remains undeterred as her colleague, Abel Campos, defends her credibility, leading to growing tension between law enforcement and her investigation.

A mysterious black triangular object begins hovering over Abbey's home, coinciding with bizarre events surrounding her family. As panic spreads, Abbey insists that her daughter Ashley has been abducted, but Sheriff August's skepticism only deepens her despair.

In an effort to comprehend the alien entity behind Ashley's disappearance, Abbey undergoes another hypnosis session. She experiences a horrifying flashback of both her and Ashley being abducted, during which the entity chillingly declares that Ashley will never return.

After her traumatic experience, Abbey wakes up in a hospital, where Sheriff August claims that her husband Will's death was a suicide. This revelation shakes Abbey's faith in her understanding of the events surrounding her husband's murder.

As the reenactment concludes, Abbey admits that she, along with Campos and Odusami, have no distinct memories of the alleged alien abduction experience. Despite doubts about her credibility, Abbey remains steadfast in her belief that Ashley might still be alive.

Freed from legal trouble, Abbey moves to the East Coast, seeking solace from her traumatic past. However, her mental state deteriorates, requiring extensive care while Campos and Odusami try to distance themselves from the haunting memories.

In the wake of Ashley's disappearance, Abbey’s relationship with her son Ronnie suffers, as he holds resentment for the situation. This distance complicates Abbey's mourning process as she grapples with her family's loss and her unresolved feelings.

As Abbey struggles with her grief and mental health, Campos continues his career as a psychologist, while Odusami transitions to teaching. The trio's shared trauma defines their futures, leaving them to carry the weight of their experiences in silence.
