Set during a Labor Day Weekend in coastal New England, a middle-aged playwright gathers longtime friends—legendary TV diva Charlotte Christian and actor Jay Mulch—to read his new play, "The Extinction of Fireflies." The work is inspired by the romance between Roman Emperor Hadrian and his young lover Antinous. The gathering takes an unexpected turn when Jay brings his new, younger lover, Callisto, leading to dramatic reactions and escalating tensions among the group.
