A professor experiencing a midlife crisis finds himself on an unplanned road trip with his children, Zoe and Jack. Their journey takes an unexpected turn when they encounter Lewis's estranged father, who is participating in a unique historical reenactment. The family venture off the usual route and into the American wilderness, where they must confront long-held tensions and rediscover their connection to each other and their history.
