The Crimson Ghost

Dr. Chambers demonstrates the Cyclotrode X's powers to a university faculty audience by using it to detect and topple a model airplane. The device is shown to repel atomic bomb attacks and disable nearby electronics, impressing the attendees. This showcase establishes the Cyclotrode as a powerful, dangerous invention.

Following the demonstration, two of the Ghost's henchmen attempt to steal the Cyclotrode X. Chambers activates the device to prevent the theft, destroying the prototype in the process. The thwarted attempt escalates the conflict between Chambers' circle and the Ghost.

Criminologist Duncan Richards arrives to assist in stopping the theft and confronts the fleeing henchmen. In the ensuing struggle, Ashe escapes, while the other henchman is killed when a collar around his neck is removed.

Chambers informs his fellow professors that a duplicate Cyclotrode is kept in a bonded warehouse. The revelation widens the Ghost's threat and sets new stakes for Richards and the faculty. The list of possible suspects among the professors grows.

Chambers is brought to the Ghost's mansion hideout, where the Ghost forces him to wear an obedience collar. Under its control, Chambers retrieves the duplicate Cyclotrode from the warehouse. The Ghost dutifully plots larger, more dangerous schemes.

The Ghost commands Chambers to use the Cyclotrode to impede Richards' car, threatening disaster. Richards narrowly avoids being hurled off a cliff as the device sabotages his vehicle. The pursuit demonstrates the Ghost's willingness to weaponize the Cyclotrode against his enemies.

Back at the mansion, the Ghost frees Chambers from his influence and demands a larger weapon capable of crippling cities. Instead, Chambers designs a death ray and sets it as a trap inside the lair. Richards arrives to confront him, and Chambers sacrifices himself as the weapon fires.

After the death of Chambers, the Ghost pursues heavy water and refined uranium, sending his henchmen to capture Diana, a secretary aiding Richards. He collars her and has her returned to the university, increasing the clock on stopping him. Richards notices the collar and grows determined to remove it and save Diana.

Richards, aided by a doctor and a nurse, removes the control collar from Diana without killing her, exposing the doctor as Ashe in disguise. Ashe escapes and flees to the Ghost's mountain hideout by car. The ruse buys Richards time to regroup and pursue the Ghost.

Ashe escapes to the Ghost's mountain hideout, where a laboratory. scientist Bain has devised a method to produce heavy water without uranium. Richards closes in on the hideout, setting the stage for a climactic confrontation.

In the mountain hideout's laboratory, Bain demonstrates a way to synthesize heavy water without uranium. A firefight erupts, and the Ghost and Ashe escape with a supply of heavy water. Richards races to prevent their further advance.

At the next faculty meeting, Richards announces that the wreckage of the Ghost's laboratory equipment has been moved to a warehouse and will be checked for fingerprints. In truth, his plan is to use the evidence to lure out and capture the Ghost. Diana learns of the ruse and prepares for the coming confrontation.

Richards and Diana go to the warehouse and find Professor Van Wyck, incorrectly assuming him to be the Ghost. The real Ghost arrives, and Van Wyck is killed in the ensuing melee. With Van Wyck and Anderson dead, Richards narrows the suspect pool toward Maxwell or Parker.

With both Van Wyck and Anderson dead, Richards concludes that Maxwell or Parker must be the Ghost. He continues the investigation and resolves to trap the culprit by following Ashe to the mansion hideout. The tension rises as the true identity remains hidden.

Richards and Diana track Ashe to the Ghost's mansion, where the larger Cyclotrode is under construction. Richards shoots the device and unmasks the Ghost. Back at the university, Parker is revealed as the Crimson Ghost, ending the threat once and for all.
