Characters & Themes
Set in nineteenth‑century Sorrento, this drama adapts Francesco Mastriani’s 1852 novel. Young Beatrice is blinded while witnessing her mother’s murder and cannot identify the killer. The police detain a suspect, but the true murderer may still be at large. Years later a family friend takes her to a renowned doctor who claims he can restore her sight, offering a chance to see the assassin—or to face new threats that might keep her in darkness forever.
