The Angels' Share

The film opens with the group serving community payback hours. Robbie is taken to hospital when Leonie goes into labour, after which he is assaulted by Leonie's uncles and her dad. Harry brings him home to clean up, and Leonie calls to announce their son Luke has been born. The moment ends with a celebratory whisky toast.

Leonie pushes Robbie to face his past by meeting Anthony, a victim who recounts the attack in front of his family and Leonie. Harry and the group watch as Anthony testifies, reminding Robbie of the consequences of his violence. The scene underscores the difficulty of escaping a life shaped by feud.

Leonie declares she does not want Luke growing up amid violence and feuds. She makes clear the cycle must end, and asks Robbie to choose a different path for their family.

The group visits a distillery as a reward for their good behaviour and learns about the angels' share—the portion of whisky that evaporates during aging. The tour guide pours them a dram and Robbie impresses the guide with his palate as he identifies flavours.

Mo steals several miniatures from the gift shop, and the four later hold their own whisky tasting using the stolen items.

Robbie is about to be beaten by Clancy and his followers when Leonie's father intervenes and saves him. He warns that escaping the feuds is impossible unless Robbie leaves Glasgow, offering £5,000 to start a new life away from violence. Robbie is left to weigh the offer.

At the next community service session, Harry asks Robbie to join a whisky tasting in Edinburgh. Mo overhears and invites herself, along with Albert and Rhino, and they all travel to Edinburgh where Robbie receives a business card from a whisky collector named Thaddeus.

In Edinburgh they learn of the Malt Mill, a priceless cask to be auctioned, and Robbie is handed a business card by Thaddeus. Mo reveals she has stolen documents detailing the warehouse where Malt Mill is kept. Robbie resolves to stay straight for Leonie and Luke, even as the plan to steal the whisky takes shape.

Robbie and the others view a flat to rent for six months, but they are followed by one of Clancy's men, reminding Robbie that they cannot live under threat. He begins planning to steal the Malt Mill with his community service partners.

They secure an invitation to the tasting and auction, and Robbie siphons whisky into empty Irn-Bru bottles. He is interrupted by Thaddeus and Angus Dobie, and later witnesses Thaddeus attempting to bribe Dobie. He then tops up the cask with cheaper whisky and presses on with the plan.

At the auction Robbie negotiates a sale of three bottles for £200,000 and a real job away from Glasgow. They begin the trek home but accidentally break two bottles during a police encounter. Robbie ultimately negotiates a sale for £100,000 and a permanent job far from Glasgow.

The scene cuts to Harry coming home to find a bottle of Irn Bru on the kitchen table with a note thanking him for giving him a chance and presenting his angels' share, alongside a newspaper photo of the payback group by the cask.

Robbie and Leonie leave for Stirling in a gleaming old Volkswagen Type 2, while the rest of the group resolves to go get wasted in Glasgow. The film ends with The Proclaimers' 500 Miles playing as their journey toward a different life begins.
