During Christmas Eve, James drives home but is tailed by a van. He tries to escape, yet a convoy blocks him and the van pushes his car into a lake. The car sinks and James drowns, leaving Susanna and their son Rony in shock and mourning.

News of James's death reaches Susanna and Rony, plunging them into grief and uncertainty about the future. Family and friends circle with mixed motives, some offering sympathy while others eye the wealth James accumulated. Susanna begins to realize she must fight to protect her and her child's rights.

At the funeral, James's estranged father Kurien and his brother David arrive, signaling a power struggle over the estate. The mood shifts from mourning to maneuvering for control of assets. The family seems more interested in profits than in honoring James.

Kurien and David file a lawsuit arguing that Susanna's marriage to James is invalid, threatening Susanna's and Rony's entitlement to the estate. The legal battle intensifies the feud within the family. Susanna faces pressure and intimidation from Kurien's associates as the case proceeds.

With little help coming her way, Susanna encounters George Korah Vettickal and hires him to defend her case. George, guided by Pillai, initially considers taking a fee based on James's assets, reflecting his self-interest. He agrees to take the case, setting off a complicated alliance.

Despite the threat and an initial ambivalence, George resolves to proceed with the case. When his office is destroyed in the assault, he moves into James's bungalow to continue the defense and gather evidence. He commits to uncovering the truth about the couple's marriage.

Kurien reveals Susanna's past—an arrest for prostitution and a stint in a rescue home in February 1981. Susanna confesses her history to George, deepening the emotional complexity of the case. The revelations complicate the defense but also strengthen her resolve to prove the marriage.

A young Susanna, orphaned and trained in accounting, interviews for a job at James's company where she is raped by James. She is wrongly arrested for prostitution and placed in a rescue shelter before being found, treated, and eventually married by James. The traumatic backstory explains the dynamics behind their later marriage.

George and Pillai locate a wedding video that confirms the marriage, and they identify one of the attackers who assaulted them. They also discover that Unnikrishnan, the business manager, is colluding with others against Susanna. They confront the church clerk who erased the records and recover the official wedding documents.

George presents the wedding in court and files a private suit alleging James was murdered. The police launch a formal investigation and arrest Kurien and David as the case widens. Witnesses from James's past bolster the case, pushing the court toward a dramatic hearing.

Testimonies reveal Kurien Joseph as James's step-father and expose his motive to seize assets. Unnikrishnan and Peter testify about Kurien's influence and the last confrontation James had with him. The court finds Kurien guilty, with sentencing postponed to the next day.

Kurien launches a final attack on Susanna, Rony, and Antony; Antony is killed in the attack. George arrives to intervene, and in the ensuing fight, Kurien's car plunges into a mountain ditch. The immediate threat ends, but the cost remains high.

With Kurien's death and the truth about the marriage and inheritance established, Susanna's and Rony's future appears more secure. The film ends on a justice-tinged note, acknowledging the scars left by the battle. The resolution comes at the price of loss and struggle.
