Raju, the newly‑named Thandel, and his crew are swept into a Pakistani prison after a storm carries their boat across the border. Inside the Karachi jail they endure brutal treatment at the hands of the local terror‑lord Rakim, while a few sympathetic guards, led by Fahad Mustafa, offer brief relief. The men’s plight becomes a diplomatic dead‑end when the Indian government’s promise to secure their release on Independence Day is undone by the sudden abolition of Article 370, leaving the fishermen trapped indefinitely.

Back in India, Sathya refuses to surrender to despair. She first extracts the overdue wages from Raju’s employer, then appeals to Minister Sushila Swaraj, who vows to intervene. After the minister’s death, Sathya persists, waiting for the minister’s daughter in Delhi. Moved by her determination, the daughter picks up the unfinished mission and pushes the Pakistani authorities to free the captives. When the release finally arrives, twenty‑one fishermen walk out, but one—Lachi—remains behind because his identity papers are missing. Raju, choosing responsibility over his own freedom, stays with Lachi to sort out the paperwork, unaware that his own wedding invitation has already been sent.

Meanwhile, Murali—Sathya’s reluctant fiancé—discovers the depth of her love for Raju. Accepting that he cannot replace Raju, he secretly books Raju’s flight home and arranges for the missing documents. On the day of the wedding, the flight lands, the paperwork is cleared, and Murali reveals his plan to both families. Overcome with gratitude, Sathya rushes to the village where Raju has just returned.

In the final moments, the two reunite on the shore, their embrace a testament to the resilience of their bond. Despite the storm, imprisonment, political turmoil, and a promised marriage to another, Raju and Sathya end up together, their love surviving every test the story throws at them.
