After the harrowing events in Paris from Taken, Bryan Mills, played by Liam Neeson, finds himself facing a new threat as the relatives of the men he killed while rescuing his daughter, Kim, arrive from France. These men are mourned in their hometown of Tropoje, Albania, where their vengeful leader, Murad (Rade Serbedzija), promises that they will hunt down Bryan to avenge their loved ones.

When Bryan comes to pick up Kim, portrayed by Maggie Grace, for a driving lesson, he learns from her mother, Lenore, played by Famke Janssen, that Kim is not home; instead, she is at her boyfriend’s place. Adding to the tension, Lenore is grappling with her own relationship issues as her husband cancels their holiday plans. Bryan then proposes a trip to Istanbul, Turkey, suggesting that Kim and Lenore should join him after his work assignment. To his surprise, they arrive in Istanbul, eager to be with him.

Meanwhile, Murad and his crew capture a French CIA officer in a bid to track Bryan’s next move. The stakes heighten when Kim decides to stay back at the hotel to help her parents reconcile while Bryan and Lenore are out together. Just as they attempt to enjoy the city, Murad’s men attack, leading to Lenore’s capture and forcing Bryan into a position of surrender. Before doing so, he contacts Kim, advising her to hide and stay safe.

In a tense turn of events, Bryan finds himself bound in a dark room, but he cleverly uses a hidden communication device to guide Kim to the U.S. Embassy. Although initially hesitant, Kim follows his instructions, uses his weaponry suitcase to create a diversion with a grenade, and gradually maneuvers through the rooftops to reach him. After a series of daring moves, Bryan and Kim reunite, but they face new challenges as they attempt to rescue Lenore, who has been taken elsewhere.

In an explosive car chase through Istanbul, Bryan drives with Kim in a stolen taxi, fleeing from Murad’s men and even the local police. The thrilling pursuit leads them crashing into a military checkpoint at the U.S. Embassy, where Bryan mobilizes the help of his former CIA friend, Sam. With his memory of their initial capture route, Bryan organizes a counterattack on Murad’s stronghold to rescue Lenore.

Confronting Murad, Bryan navigates a precarious negotiation, but it quickly devolves into a deadly struggle. In a brutal showdown, Bryan overcomes Murad, ensuring his family’s safety once more.

Three weeks later, the Mills family is finally able to enjoy a peaceful moment at a café, celebrating Kim’s successful driving test. To Bryan’s bewilderment, they are joined by Kim’s boyfriend, Jamie, prompting Kim to jokingly remind her father to keep his overprotective instincts in check.
