Amber Alert

While spending a day at the playground with her family, a shocking incident occurs when a man abducts seven-year-old Charlotte Bryce from the park, catching her mother, Monica, and grandmother, Gail, off guard. It isn’t until Monica reviews a video she recorded on her smartphone that she realizes her daughter is missing, as she catches a glimpse of Charlotte standing in front of a mysterious black car. Panicking, Monica calls out for Charlotte, only to find her son nearby but no sign of her daughter. In desperation, she dials 911 for help.

Local operator Cici, who answers Monica’s distressing call, swiftly recommends that Sgt. Phil Casey issue an Amber Alert. However, Casey informs her that without a license plate number, he cannot proceed with the alert. This prompts Monica to drive to the police station to plead her case in person. After reviewing the situation, Casey reluctantly agrees to issue a generalized Amber Alert for a black Toyota Camry.

Meanwhile, Jaq, needing a ride after missing her original share, flags down a different driver, Shane. Though Shane initially claims he is off duty, Jaq’s insistence persuades him to take her to her destination. As they begin to bond during the ride, Jaq discovers that Shane is late for his son Jake’s fifth birthday party, and his ex, Shannon, is continuously calling to express her frustration.

As the duo becomes more acquainted, Jaq confides her pain about losing a son who was stillborn. During their journey, both receive the Amber Alert notification and, when Jaq spots a vehicle matching the description, she quickly calls 911. Unfortunately, due to the overwhelming number of incoming tips, Cici cannot keep the call open long. The urgency heightens when the car associated with the Amber Alert speeds away upon appearing on an electronic street sign.

With Jaq’s intuition, she convinces Shane to follow the suspicious vehicle to a nearby gas station. As the driver enters the store, Jaq approaches to investigate. Using quick thinking, she drops an earbud into the car’s cracked window and returns to Shane. Through the earbud, they overhear a phone conversation revealing suspicious details, including the name “Williams” and a phone number. The pursuit intensifies when the driver, whose name is Aaron, confronts them, claiming he is merely taking his daughter, who he says is sick, for treatment.

Despite Aaron’s assurances, Jaq’s suspicions grow, leading her to call Cici again to inquire about the name associated with the false plate number he gave. As they piece together the puzzle, Jaq realizes that Aaron is not who he claims to be. They quickly catch up to Aaron’s car, but when Jaq calls the phone number she noted earlier, Aaron threatens to harm the girl unless she backs off.

This grim situation escalates when they learn the true identity of Aaron, whose real name is revealed to be Benjamin Williams. As Jaq and Shane gather more clues about Benjamin’s past, which involves shocking discoveries of his abuse and murders of kidnapped children, they become determined to find Charlotte in a secluded location.

With the tension mounting, they devise a plan to draw Benjamin out of the house by pretending to be from a pharmacy. However, once they sneak inside, they’ve encountered disturbing evidence of his past. Desperately searching, they finally discover Charlotte alive yet terrified. Just when it seems they’re nearing a successful rescue, Benjamin returns to confront them, leading to a fatal confrontation where Shane engages in a gunfight, allowing police to arrive just in time.

In a heartwarming conclusion, Charlotte reunites with her mother, Monica, as Jaq watches the touching scene from an ambulance, reflecting on the harrowing ordeal they all endured while standing beside Shane.
