The whole story of Sudden Death (1977) explained, from the opening scene to the final frame: every key event, every twist and what it all adds up to. Read it as a quick recap before the sequel, to check a scene you missed, or to finally understand what really happened.

After Ed Neilson's entire family is brutally murdered, he pleads with Duke Smith Robert Conrad, a retired CIA operative, to take on the case. Smith initially refuses, citing his past, but when Neilson himself dies in a violent blast, he relents and agrees to look into the killings.

With the support of his former associate Wyatt Spain Felton Perry, Smith begins to track down who is behind the carnage. Meanwhile, government agent John Shaw John Ashley keeps a wary eye on Smith, dispatching one of his men, Dan Larry Manetti, to shadow the investigator because Shaw has aligned himself with people from Neilson's company who want to pull him away due to his sympathy for a faction that calls itself The Brown Hats.

Shaw then recruits the Corsican hit-man Dominic Dilgado, also known as Aldo Don Stroud, to take care of Smith. To protect his family, Smith relies on his ally Buffalo Tinker Angelo Ventura, who hides Smith's daughter Melissa Nancy Conrad and his wife Maya Aline Samson in a safe place until the danger subsides. Aldo strikes first by killing Tinker, and Smith and Spain respond by eliminating the men responsible for Neilson's murder. In a tense climax, Smith shoots Shaw and defeats Aldo in a brutal confrontation.

The pursuit ends with Smith and Spain heading to an island, only to learn a grim truth: Aldo had previously killed Smith's daughter Melissa and his wife Maya.
