The Stooges are mistakenly hired by B.O. Pictures' publicity department to stage a kidnapping as a publicity stunt for actress Dolly Devore. Their plan is to simulate a kidnapping to generate publicity for the studio’s emerging star. The scheme begins with the intent of creating a staged event that will catch public attention.

While executing their staged kidnapping, the Stooges' plan is unexpectedly intercepted by two real gangsters. These criminals actually abduct Dolly Devore from her hotel room, turning the staged event into a genuine kidnapping. The Stooges realize their mistake and are forced to get involved in saving Devore.

The Stooges set out to rescue Dolly Devore from the gangsters, navigating the dangerous situation they inadvertently helped create. Shemp finds himself stuck on an outdoor ledge, dressed as Devore inside a garment bag, creating a tense and humorous confrontation. Their efforts to rescue her escalate into chaos.
