Scientist Hannes (Sepp Rist) runs a solitary weather outpost on Mont Blanc, staying in telegraph contact with astronomer Leni Riefenstahl and receiving supplies from pilot Ernst Udet. A violent snowstorm strips his gloves, wrecks the station and leaves him frostbitten, unable to descend. He sends an SOS, hoping a rescuer will brave the storm. The film exemplifies Arnold Fanck’s classic mountain‑film style.
