Two leading German directors joined forces for Berge in Flammen (Mountain in Flames). The film appeals to pro‑ecologists, condemning war‑driven shell fire that scarred Europe’s mountain scenery. Its climax shows an Austrian‑Italian clash in the Dolomites that destroys an entire peak. Giuseppe Beece’s score underscores the stark images. Also released as The Doomed Battalion, the multilingual production (German, English, French) cost $150,000.
