Snowtown

Jamie, a 16-year-old, lives with his distressed mother Elizabeth Harvey in the poor Salisbury suburb. His brothers, including half-brother Troy, contribute to a tense and unsafe home life, with Troy raping Jamie. The hostile family environment sets the stage for the film's violence to come.

Elizabeth's boyfriend takes indecent photographs of Jamie and the other boys. When the police are reluctant to intervene, the situation remains unresolved. The exploitation deepens the danger surrounding Jamie.

Barry, a gay cross-dressing man, contacts Elizabeth and introduces her to John. John despises pedophiles and homosexuals, and he begins to insert himself into Jamie's life as a protective authority figure. His initial help masks a growing control over Jamie.

John uses brutal tactics to pressure the boyfriend, throwing kangaroo blood and body parts at his house until he moves away. This act signals John's willingness to escalate violence to enforce his worldview. The neighborhood begins to fear his influence.

John begins to assume a father-like role for Jamie, gaining his trust and control. Barry reveals names and addresses of pedophiles, which John preserves in a wall of pictures and notes reading 'I'm coming for you'. Jamie's loyalty starts to bend toward John's direction.

John and Robert take Jamie into his garden shed and reveal the bodies of Barry and Gavin. The shocking revelation cements Jamie's acceptance of the killings and marks a turning point in his involvement.

John and Robert torture Troy, Jamie's step-brother, who is brutalized in front of him. Jamie then kills Troy in a mercy killing, further entrenching himself in John's violent world. The act solidifies his role in the murders.

Jamie assists John in carrying out several murders and helps store the bodies in the vault of an abandoned bank in Snowtown. This step expands the crime into a permanent, hidden archive of victims.

Jamie lures his step-brother Dave to the bank on the pretense of looking at a computer. Dave unknowingly follows, and Jamie closes the door as John and Robert await inside, sealing his fate.

Captions reveal that eight victims' remains were found stored in barrels in the Snowtown bank vault on 20 May 1999. The following day, John Bunting and Robert Wagner were arrested, bringing the killings to a shocking close to this chapter.
