In the summer of 1975, a family outing turns fatal when John's small boat capsizes. After struggling to swim back to shore, John's two children, Angela and Peter, drown in a tragic accident caused by teenagers towing a water skier.

With her father and brother gone, Angela survives the tragedy and is sent to live with her quirky Aunt Martha and her cousin Ricky. This drastic change marks the beginning of a difficult journey for Angela as she grapples with her trauma.

Eight years later, Angela and Ricky arrive at Camp Arawak as they prepare for a summer filled with new experiences. Aunt Martha advises them to keep their past a secret, setting an ominous tone for their time at the camp.
