On a voyage funded by Sinbad’s determination to restore his family’s fortunes, Sinbad Cam Clarke and his loyal servant Habeeb sail aboard Captain Aziz’s ship, chasing rumors of untold riches. When the crew spots a strikingly unfamiliar island, Sinbad urges the captain to draw closer, convinced that the land holds currency in gold and glory. The island itself looks odd at first—flat, barren, with no grass, trees, or sand—and as the ship nears, a tremor runs through the deck. Two sailors brave the rowboat with Sinbad and Habeeb, but the island shakes again, forcing the sailors back to the ship while the two companions are left behind. To their shock, the “island” turns out to be the fin of a colossal sea monster, which dives beneath the waves and pulls the mystery back into the depths. Captain Aziz’s ship sails away, abandoning Sinbad and Habeeb to drift in the open ocean.
By morning, the pair find themselves washed ashore on a strange new island that offers water, food, and even horses, hinting at a settled population nearby. They are soon approached by two men in foreign dress who claim to be the sons of King Jamaal of Salabat. The brothers guide Sinbad and Habeeb to a grand palace, and King Jamaal welcomes the famed traveler with warmth and curiosity. Enchanted by Sinbad’s tales of adventure, the king makes a bold proposal: he asks for Sinbad to marry his daughter, Nefia. Sinbad accepts the offer outwardly, though his face betrays ambivalence, and he wrestles with an uneasy sense that his true purpose on the island lies elsewhere.
That night, the weight of the arrangement becomes clear to Sinbad. He confides in Habeeb that he has no intention of fulfilling the promise of marriage and intends to slip away to avoid binding himself to royal duty. Destiny, however, takes an abrupt turn when Captain Aziz’s ship returns to the island. The reunion is tense but hopeful, as the captain seems ready to help Sinbad escape once again. The plan unfolds in a clever ruse: Sinbad and Habeeb hide within crates that are being delivered to Captain Aziz as gifts from King Jamaal, a ruse that successfully deceives the palace guards and port authorities. They take advantage of the moment of confusion, slipping aboard the ship as if they were part of the royal shipment.
Yet triumph proves fleeting. Once Captain Aziz has departed from the island, King Jamaal’s forces close in. The royal ships pursue the fleeing trio, and in a swift, dramatic confrontation, Sinbad and Habeeb are captured once more. This time Jamaal does not permit them the chance to wander free; he condemns them to be left on a desolate island as a punishment for their resistance and for defying the king’s wishes. The episode ends with Sinbad and Habeeb stranded on unfamiliar ground once again, their fate uncertain as the island’s horizon gleams with unknown possibilities and the sea continues to whisper of adventures to come.
