Stantin learns that a fishing party led by Sarah Rennell ventured into the forest from the mine. He enlists her partner Jonathan Knox to help locate them, hoping to gather clues from those who were in the area. The partnership marks a shift to field investigation.

During the fishing expedition, Steve manipulates a fisherman, slips a gun into a crack, and seizes Sarah as a hostage. He demands that she guide him toward Canada, setting a perilous manhunt in motion. The group must reconcile their differences to pursue the kidnapper.
