Starring Upendra in a central role, the film centers on Shiva, a young and carefree man who openly supports love marriages and spends his days helping couples wed against their parents’ objections. One day, aboard a train, he witnesses Tanu making a loud, public proposal from a nearby field. In reality, Tanu is performing a rehearsal for an acting audition, a detail her friend Rishitha points out as she praises the performance and questions who she proposed to during the scene. Misreading the moment, Shiva leaps from the train and closes in on Tanu, who runs away, setting off a chase that threads through a school where Tanu is practicing for a theatre role.

As Shiva follows, he becomes convinced that Tanu has fallen for him, though she constantly rejects him. He hatches a plan: he will arrange his friend Rishi’s marriage to Tanu’s lover and, in the process, give her a chance to turn back if she truly loves him; otherwise, he promises to step out of her life. Meanwhile, trouble brews as Bhoji Reddy’s men arrive, furious that Shiva had beaten up his son. Bhoji declares that if Tanu returns, he will beat Shiva’s friends; if she doesn’t, he will pursue her with force. In a chaotic turn, Abhi—who has been looking for Shiva—takes Tanu away, and Shiva defeats the assailants after a local onlooker claims she turned back. Abhi reveals that Tanu has been a kind of lucky charm for him and vows to marry her.

The conflict escalates as Shiva interrupts Tanu’s wedding, sparking a confrontation between Abhi and Bhoji. The two men eventually set aside their feud to search for Shiva, while Tanu and Shiva escape to Goa, where she begins to see real feelings for him. Just as she is about to voice a proposal, Shiva defends a pair of lovers from a group of goons, taking a severe beating in the process. Torn between her affection for him and the others he has helped, she asks him to choose: her or the people he protects. Shiva’s choice to stand by others moves her deeply.

Bhoji escalates his vendetta by kidnapping Tanu, and a deeper truth emerges when Shiva’s father reveals that his son’s real name is Ram. Ram and Shiva were once best friends, until Shiva’s supposed suicide. Ram learns that he loved a girl who also killed herself, a secret he kept to protect them from danger. Hearing this, Tanu recognizes her mistake, and Bhoji ultimately withdraws, while Abhi suffers memory loss from the ensuing chaos. The story resolves on a hopeful note as Tanu encounters Shiva—now revealed as Ram—at a mall, where she proposes to him and he accepts, and they begin a new life together.
