The mystery deepens when the NYPD informs Holmes of a startling crime at the international gold exchange, where the vault full of gold bars has vanished overnight. The timing is critical: a significant financial transaction between Italy and Germany looms in three days, and the theft could be a lever in a much larger political game. Holmes initially declines the case, but a perceptive remark from Watson shifts his focus toward finding Scott and breaking Moriarty’s leverage.

To buy time and divert Moriarty’s surveillance, Watson and Adler operate under cover, drawing away the agent tasked with watching Holmes.
