After being condemned to death, Moriarty vows to see Sherlock Holmes, Lt. Col. Gore‑King of Scotland Yard and the presiding judge all hanged. Holmes, who has been preparing to leave London, retire to the countryside and marry his beloved, must abandon those plans when Moriarty breaks out and sets his revenge in motion.
