Seven Sundays

The Bonifacio children place letters in a can of Rebisco biscuits for their father, Manuel, a former overseas Filipino worker. The opening scenes show portraits of the family at different times, hinting at distance and shared memories. The setup establishes the family's long-standing bonds and the vulnerabilities to come.

In the present, Manuel is a widower living with his nephew Jun. On his birthday he is greeted by the townspeople and his children, but later Dr. Nelson delivers a grim diagnosis: lung cancer with only two to five months left. The revelation casts a shadow over the family’s plans and prompts reflections on what truly matters.

Allan, Bryan, Charmaine, and Dexter arrive at the old family house and vote to let Manuel decide the last will and testament. They decide to make seven Sunday visits to reconnect and mend old rifts despite their own personal problems. The arrangement frames the family’s reunion as a fragile, living process.

Dex is the first to arrive and hides when others threaten to locate him. He reunites with Camille, an old friend, and they later visit Allan's store, where they discover Allan is facing serious financial trouble.

The siblings arrange a belated birthday party for Manuel, hoping to surprise him. Jun is asked to stall Manuel, who pretends to be surprised, while a basketball game escalates into a fight that Allan, Bry, Cha, and Dex must calm with Manuel’s intervention.

Manuel expresses disappointment to Jun and urges the cousins to get along, even if they pretend. They attempt to act harmonious, but they struggle to agree on how to bring their father to the funeral parlor. Manuel suggests they prepare an advanced eulogy, which awkwardly exposes the fragility of their relationships.

Bry, Cha, and Dex discuss their pasts as Manuel receives a call saying the diagnosis was a misstep and he actually has tuberculosis. He chooses not to disclose the news to his children for fear they will abandon him again.

On the next Sunday, the family goes to the beach where Manuel displays unusual vigor, arousing suspicion about his health. He introduces a game: he draws a letter from the Rebisco can and the siblings guess who wrote it, revealing how distant they have become over the years.

Dex stays with his father and buys ice cream at Allan's store, while Camille helps him evade those pursuing him. At Camille's restaurant, Dex witnesses Jerry flirting with a college student and reacts by striking out at Jerry, escalating tensions tied to Dex's notoriety. Manuel tries to manage the fallout by calling Bry to help Allan.

Bry arrives and provides financial assistance to Allan, who then opens up about Juliana, the mother of his child Gian. With Bry’s support, Allan helps contact Juliana and Gian, beginning to bridge past miscommunications.

After Bechay's medical check-up, Dr. Nelson reveals the truth about Manuel's condition to Allan and Bechay, prompting a confrontation with Manuel. Manuel admits he has been masking the reality to save his children from abandoning him.

Dex confronts Cha about what happened to Jerry and overhears Manuel discussing his real illness with Jun. Bry receives a call about Dex’s alleged actions during the botched concert, triggering a further confrontation that frays the brothers and sisters again.

Cha evicts her husband, and Allan returns to his store as Bry receives a message from Juliana. The siblings rally to help Bry meet Juliana and Gian, signaling a renewed effort to repair their family bonds.

The family goes to the cemetery to visit their late mother’s grave and see Manuel speaking to her, lamenting his sense of failure as a father. They promise to deliver a loving eulogy for their still-living father and share a heartfelt embrace.

Allan's store is relaunched and Mr. Kim's brother arrives for a groundbreaking, rekindling the rivalry. The family taunts each other and finally wins a dance showdown, symbolizing their unity against their foes.
