What Happens in Semma Botha Aagatha: Full Plot Summary

The whole story of Semma Botha Aagatha (2018) explained, from the opening scene to the final frame: every key event, every twist and what it all adds up to. Read it as a quick recap before the sequel, to check a scene you missed, or to finally understand what really happened.

The movie opens with Ramesh [Atharvaa Murali] waking up with a heavy hangover, trying to piece together the events of the previous night after a painful breakup with his girlfriend Madhu Mishti Chakravarty. He drowns his sorrows with drinks alongside his friend Nandhu Karunakaran. On his advice, Ramesh hires a female escort and brings her into his apartment—Nina Anaika Soti. He has to step out because his neighbor Devi Devadarshini has an emergency, and he asks Nina to wait inside, promising to return soon. But when he returns, he finds Nina dead under mysterious circumstances.

Shocked, Ramesh begins to piece together what happened. He discovers restaurant receipts in her bag, checks CCTV footage, and learns that another man named Ravi was with Nina before meeting him. From Nina's cell phone, he traces her home address to Palakkad and asks Nandhu to stay behind and guard the dead body. Nina’s sister then makes a call to Sekar John Vijay, who tracks down Ramesh and questions him about Nina and Ravi. Ramesh escapes, while Nandhu calls with a set of numbers he found in Nina’s purse, and reveals that he is hiding with the dead body in the attic because Devi’s father and husband came to use the gas stove and wouldn’t leave.

Ramesh heads to a railway station to investigate the series of numbers, finding that the cloak room lockers match them. He spots Ravi opening the lockers, beats him up, and demands to know why he killed Nina. Ravi, a henchman working for his boss, explains that they looted money and documents from a politician and that Nina had taken part in the scheme. Nina had allegedly planned to steal the boss’s money, hid it in the lockers, and left for Chennai. Ravi says he found her, and after learning the money’s location, poisoned her drink in revenge. It’s then revealed that Ramesh had met Nina earlier and she ended up dying at his apartment.

After Ravi’s confession, Ramesh strikes a deal: Ravi will help dispose of Nina’s body from the house. Ravi tries to escape, but falls to his death during a tense chase. Disappointed, Ramesh returns to Chennai and plans to dispose of the dead body himself. Along with Nandhu, he drives Nina’s body to the place where Ravi died, keeping the money and the two casualties together, and informs Sekar of the whereabouts of Ravi, Nina, and the cash. Sekar arrives, retrieves the money, and disposes of both Ravi and Nina’s bodies.

Back in Chennai, Ramesh and Nandhu return home. Ramesh patches things up with Madhu, while news arrives that Sekar and his men died in a road accident, removing any living proof of their unwitting involvement. With the danger behind them, the two friends feel a sense of relief and a quieter path ahead, even as they carry the weight of what happened. In the end, the film leaves a note about how guilt, greed, and coincidence intersect in a web of choices that ripple far beyond a single night.
