Sardar Ka Grandson

Amreek and Radha run the movers' company Gently Gently in Los Angeles, but Amreek's carefree attitude strains their relationship. Radha has had enough of his avoidance of accountability. She ends the relationship, leaving Amreek devastated and forced to reassess his life.

Gurkeerat from Amritsar calls Amreek to report that his mother’s mother, Sardar Kaur, is gravely ill with a tumour. Doctors advise bringing her home to be cared for. Gurki withholds the full gravity from Sardar to avoid distress, creating tension about whether she should be told the truth.

Sardar reveals a lifelong dream: to visit Lahore and see the house she built with her husband during 1946. The Partition separated her from the place she loves, and returning would ease a deep ache. Amreek is moved by her wish and vows to help fulfill it.

Amreek tries to secure a visa for Sardar to travel to Pakistan, but the application is rejected because she is blacklisted after a past incident at a Mohali cricket match. The rejection threatens to derail the dream of reaching her ancestral home.

Amreek learns about structural relocation and how houses can be lifted and transplanted to new locations. This insight reframes his mission from a personal favor to a potentially feasible cross-border project. He begins to see a path forward for Sardar's dream.

Armed with new knowledge, Amreek approaches both the Indian and Pakistani authorities. In principle, both governments express support for helping relocate the house, turning a private promise into a sanctioned project.

Despite intending to protect Sardar from heartbreak, Amreek travels to Lahore to locate the house. He keeps his real mission hidden from Sardar to avoid raising false hope if the plan fails.

In Lahore, Amreek discovers that local authorities are about to demolish Sardar's house. He acts quickly to halt the demolition and begins working to save the structure from ruin.

Amreek convinces the mayor—who is revealed to be Saqlain Niazi, the official Sardar had struck at the cricket match—to stop the demolition and to preserve the house for relocation.

With official backing secured, the house is saved and prepared to be moved, fulfilling Sardar's long-cherished wish to reconnect with her ancestral home. The act marks a turning point in Amreek's life and priorities.

Seven years after the mission, Sardar dies and her property is divided into three equal shares among heirs. The event underscores the enduring legacy of the home and the family’s ties to it.

Amreek and Radha marry and move back to America, where they have two daughters and a son named after Sardar. The family builds a life that honors the grandmother's memory and the house they saved.
