After Eva Perón died in 1952, her body was kept in a government morgue for three years while a grand mausoleum was planned—though the tomb was never built. When the military seized power in 1955, they secretly moved the corpse, worried its public display could rally opposition. Ironically, the hidden burial turned her into a symbol that proved more potent after death than she ever was alive.
